Its unique morphology enables the uncoated particles to work as well as if they were coated: Easy to use and excellent dispersion, stability and performance.
The main products are Eclipse Z1, to be used on its own for exceptional transparency and high SPF, Eclipse G1, its handy granulated version or Eclipse ZA, to be mixed with TiO2 or organic filters for maximum UVA performance.

Naturally derived C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate
C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate has been available in the market and used in cosmetic products for over 100 years. During that time, market products have all been produced using synthetic alcohols and benzoic acid. Hallstar Beauty has produced a natural version of the ingredient, conforming to the ISO 16128 Natural Standard. HallStar® C1215 Alkyl Benzoate Natural is a unique emollient ester derived from benzoic acid and natural mid-chain alcohols. It is engineered to meet the same performance expectations as the market’s synthetic versions while increasing products’ natural index, especially sunscreens with organic filters. Because it retains the same INCI designation and CAS Number, this new ingredient can accelerate brands’ product development requirements, saving time and costs.

Polarity-Optimizing Photostabilizer and High-Performing Agent for Metal Oxide Dispersion
HallBrite® BHB is a novel, patented multifunctional ingredient and dispersing agent ideal for sun care, skin care, and color cosmetics. It is effective as a sunscreen actives solvent, inorganic pigment wetter, emollient, moisturizer, and carrier. A low viscosity liquid of high polarity with elegant slip and feel, it is useful as a solvent and emollient in topical preparations for skin and hair. HallBrite® BHB significantly increases the in vivo SPF performance of sun protection products through the reduction of electron transfer and photoprotection mechanisms.
HallBrite® BHB combines lower potential irritation compared to similar materials, excellent spreadability, added substantivity in the presence of water, and a pleasant, moisturizing skin feel. It is compatible with most lipophilic cosmetic additives, and solubilizes many commonly used active ingredients including oxybenzone and avobenzone.
Its low freeze point (< -25°C) gives HallBrite® BHB the ability to maintain these actives in solution at low temperature. It is an excellent carrier for micronized titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and cosmetic colorants (inorganic pigments).
Sun care products typically contain 5% or less of this ingredient in order to be globally compliant (7% in Australia).

Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene
Extremely Powerful Photostabilizer for Organic and Inorganic UV Filters
SolaStay® is a viscous yellow liquid designed for use in skin care and sun care products. It is a highly efficient singlet state quencher for butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (avobenzone) and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (octinoxate). Indeed, it outperforms octocrylene as an avobenzone photostabilizer, photostabilizes octinoxate and avobenzone when formulated together, is an outstanding solvent for crystalline UV filters, is easily emulsified, and is suitable for use in lotion, cream, spray, stick, and gel formulations.
At a recommended use level in sunscreens equal to the weight percentage of avobenzone in the formulation (typically 2-3%), SolaStay® S1 enables new heights of performance in broad spectrum UVA and UVB photoprotection. Used at 1-3% with mineral UV filters and/or cosmetic colorants, it mitigates the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species-generating activities of these oxides.
SolaStay® S1 has also been documented to substantially photostabilize cholecalciferol, resveratrol, retinol, retinyl palmitate, and ubiquinone, which may be incorporated in skin care products for their anti-photoaging and other benefits. The recommended used level for SolaStay® S1 to photostabilize these products is 3-5%.

AvoBrite® is a faster excited state quencher than octocrylene while also providing for multi-benefit claims in sun protection formulations, like film forming properties. As a polymer, it may enhance the water resistance of products in which it is incorporated. Its typical use level is 5 – 6%.
AvoBrite® has been clinically proven to protect avobenzone from degrading upon sun exposure and releasing damaging free radicals. With AvoBrite®, sun care products can safely maximize the strong UV absorption powers of avobenzone and enter lucrative new markets.

Olivem® 900 MB is a PEG-free co-emulsifier, an ivory waxy solid in flake form with melting range 65 – 75°C, for w/o and w/s systems. Olivem® 900 MB is designed to improve the dispersion of powders in inorganic UV attenuating agents in sun care formulations, and contribute to waterproofing by improving the resistance to wash off. It is COSMOS-validated. The recommended use levels for Olivem® 900 are 5 – 7.5% in w/o emulsions and foundations as the sole emulsifier, 1 – 10% as a powder dispersant or lipogel agent, 1 – 3% as a functional lipid, 1 – 2% as an o/w co-emulsifier, and 2 – 3% as a w/o or w/s co-emulsifier.

Polycrylene® is a low molecular weight copolymer of adipic acid and neopentyl glycol that is terminated with cyanodiphenyl propenoic acid. It finds application in sun protection formulations that contain avobenzone, providing photostabilization to improve both SPF and PFA. It may also improve the sunscreen’s resistance to wash-off.
