Established in 2023, the company found its roots in the vibrant locale of the Lower North Shore in Sydney, Australia.
At the heart of IMAI Ingredients' mission is the exclusive representation of Hallstar’s product lines, encompassing Functional Naturals, Sun Care, Active Naturals, and Specialty Oils and Butters throughout Australia and New Zealand. The partnership with Hallstar, renowned for its expertise in photoprotection, eco-actives, functional naturals development, and extensive formulation capabilities, sets IMAI Ingredients apart in the industry. Hallstar's global presence, with research, product development, and manufacturing operations in the United States, Italy, France, China, and Brazil, further enhances the company's ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions to its clientele.
The IMAI star, officially named in 2018, is the fourth star (Delta Crucis) within the Southern Cross constellation, a strong symbol cherished by both Australia and New Zealand. Beyond its astronomical significance, the name IMAI holds cultural depth as it aligns with a Japanese surname, written as 今井. Composed of characters meaning "now" and "water well," IMAI conveys the meaningful concept of a "new place of residence." This duality encapsulates the fusion of celestial wonder and the universal theme of new beginnings, reflecting the essence of growth and exploration.

Marianne Coeur, the dedicated Managing Director and Founder of IMAI Ingredients, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the realm of personal care ingredients. A graduate of the University of Rennes 1 with a master’s degree in Biochemistry, Marianne's journey in the industry spans over 15 years, encompassing diverse roles in senior sales and product management positions both in France and Australia.

Her career encompasses senior roles in sales and product management, where she has honed her skills and garnered a profound understanding of the personal care industry. Notably, Marianne has exhibited a keen interest in sunscreens, showcasing her specialized knowledge in this vital facet of personal care. Her passion for the industry extends beyond her professional roles, as evidenced by her longstanding involvement with the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Over the years, she has actively participated in various capacities, including contributions to conference committees, the NSW chapter, and the council of the ASCC.
